Hi there,

I just Purchased a 2026 LX 700 H Overtrail with the 2 row option. I absolutely love the LX. It’s the best all around vehicle I have ever owned. It’s the third LX I have owned and I have loved all of them. Fantastic in deep snow ( 18-24 inches unplowed) and very capable off road, and I love the use of materials and build quality !

On this LX I got the cross bars on the roof and at speeds over 55 mph I noticed a definite tunnel sound just to the right of my drivers seat and what seems like its above me and behind me. I’ve checked the sunroof for leaks or wind draft and I can not find anything. I have driven it in the rain and it does not leak, and I have checked all the other windows and the front windshield for drafts and I can not find anything.

Just curious if what I am hearing at Hiway Speeds is the aerodynamic draft of the cross bars ?

If anyone else has a LX with the cross bars I would be curious if you hear the same noise. It’s not a deal breaker, I still love the LX, I just didn’t notice this on my other LX’S.

Thank You.

I do not have perosnal knowledge on this. But I have ready NUMEROUS complaints about extra noise from crossbars and roof racks from LX AND GX owners.

Is it like an intermittent low thump?

I have a rack installed, and if I don't have the wind baffle adjusted correctly I get a low thump above 50 ish. Done correctly it only seems to happen at 75+.

No, actually the sound I’m hearing is like a rear window was left down slightly creating a wind tunnel kind of noise above 55 mph. No thump sound.

I had cross bars on my 24 LX600 and on 25 LX700H. Took them off due to the wind noise. Will not put them back on. I could hear the wind noise even driving 40 mph. Wish they made a set without so much noise. Never an issue on my LC200 but those were very low profile and LX stands high like an air foil.

We got the LX 700h Overtrail April 2025. The wind noise was immediately noticeable! I was unable to walk over to that beauty with a pry bar so lived with it for 12 months. Today I found a YouTube video of how to remove (since there is no guidance from Lexus). It was easy and made a World of difference! DB level is halved! Love our LX, and now I can drive it without that obnoxious noise. Pic before attached. Here it is

I have both the LX and the GX. On my GX I have the roof rack and had horrible road noise. I took the roof rack off and it went away, but I like the look of the roof rack so I put it back on. I ordered a custom fairing from Colorado and it fixed all noise issues.. It’s too bad that Lexus doesn’t offer a fairing.

Thanks for the video. I stood there with a screwdriver trying to pry it off. Didn't want to scratch and break it so I'm glad I found this video.
