So you had no operating dash functions or displays? No screens on? The car was just dead? But then all of a sudden after numerous tries everything came on and it finally would start?

No, everything worked except the car would not start. So you had no operating dash functions or displays? No screens on? The car was just dead? But then all of a sudden after numerous tries everything came on and it finally would start?
We're watching this. Very curious. On the clips? Don't let it bug ya. My 2001 Cruiser came with a large panel that popped out of place too. I wanted a whole new panel. They said nope, replaced one of the clips they said was bad. 20-years later and 220,000 miles it never popped out again.Thought I would relate my experience with the dealer related to this. They diagnosed the problem as a defective 12v battery, and replaced it under warranty. So far, no issues, but a little concerning that the battery failed failed after only 2500 miles. The service rep advised to never run accessories without having the car running. I had just assumed the hybrid battery would talk to the 12v and keep it charged, but that is not the case. And the 12v battery is not particularly robust. I have thought about possibly replacing the 12v with a lithium battery if I can find one that fits. Since it is mounted in the rear and not subject to engine heat it might be a viable alternative. Not that I intend to sit for extended periods with just the accessories on, but for peace of mind I would prefer a more robust 12v.
Next trip to the dealer will be for the hinged section of my rear shelf that won’t stay fastened down. The spring section that is held down by three clips keeps popping up. A minor frustration given how much I otherwise enjoy this vehicle, but one of those niggling complaints.
